Security Now, `remote' security management V. Rishi Kumar
Hyderabad , May 16 WITH increasing reports of security breaches and blended threats, each time in a new and an unexpected form, enterprises across the globe are adopting an integrated approach to security. Trends indicate that the security management is gradually set to go the remote infrastructure management way. The Chief Technology Architect of Virtusa Corporation, Mr Arjun Mukherjee, told Business Line that the interconnected world has thrown up new challenges in terms of security breaches through external attacks where even large technology companies are having difficulties in handling this internally. They are seeking new ways to address this and are gradually preferring to outsource this. Just look at a hypothetical scenario. Even before an article from a newspaper is published or a music record goes public for sale, there is the possibility of someone pinching the information and leaking this out. This could be through a well-written software code that creeps into the unsuspecting network, he explained. Trends indicate that corporate espionage is set to increase as we head towards a more networked society. Mobile phones, mini PCs, handheld devices all of them would be able to interface and handle financial transactions remotely which could outnumber the transactions in the physical world. While the traditional approach of creating a firewall, having an internal security policy to keep the system robust is ideal, the increasing changes in patterns of attack such as malicious presence hidden inside a document could create problem for security administrators. Therefore, when an expert security solutions provider handles this from a remote processing centre, they are able to provide constant updates and ensure that the systems don't get compromised disrupting the business.
