Kinetic's Italijet to hit the road by Sept

Our Bureau

Pune , May 16

COME September and the much talked about Italijet scooters from the house of Kinetic Engineering Ltd (KEL) would make its presence felt on the Indian roads.

The company is planning to bring in three models within the current fiscal and would be launched one each in September, December and March, Ms Sulajja Firodia Motwani, Joint Managing Director, KEL told Business Line here today.

Ms Motwani said this would help the company catch the pre-Diwali sales for the company. She however pointed out that "the company was only in discussion stages as to the power of the vehicle but we would be coming out with the decision by June this year," she said. Asked about the other four variants of the Italijet, she noted that it was yet to be decided when these four would make its presence on the Indian roads as much of it depended on the sales of the first lot of Italijet scooters.

Ms Motwani said other than the Italijet scooters, the launch plans for the company during the current fiscal include Zing 80, which was launched today in Pune and also an upgraded version of Nova.

The Zing 85 would be made available at a price of Rs 25, 926 (ex showroom Pune) and would be available in two tone colour scheme and new decals.

However, she noted that with this new launch, the Zing 65, which is the base model would continue to make its presence felt in the showrooms.

She added that it has also lined up aggressive promotion plan for Zing 80 over the months of May and June across the country.

To tap into the youth segment, KEL has signed on all the leading VJs from MTV (music television) to promote the Zing 80.
