Icrisat's DG gets new term

HYDERABAD: Dr William D. Dar, Director-General of the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (Icrisat), has been given a new five-year term of the office starting January 1.

In a press release here, Icrisat said the decision was made at the 50th meeting of the research institute's governing board held at its headquarters in Patancheru in the city outskirts on April 29.

Stating that the extension given to the Director-General comes as no big surprise, the Icrisat release said the staff and stakeholders of the institute learned early on that the growing success of the institute hinged on relevant research programmes and decisive measures initiated by Dr Dar.
