SunTec assessed at CMM Level 5

SUNTEC Business Solutions, a Thiruvananthapuram-based software developer specialising in transaction billing solutions, has been assessed at SEI-CMM Level 5.

SunTec becomes the first company in the world in the customer care and billing domain to achieve a CMM Level 5 rating, according to Mr K. Nandakumar, President and Chief Executive Officer.

The company was assessed for design, development, implementation and customer support functions at its global software development centre based here.

"This is a major milestone for us. Ever since we started our operations, we have been stressing on quality. This achievement represents the strong commitment and capability of our people," Mr Nandakumar said.

As a company which developed and supported software products meeting critical requirements of highly demanding customers who settle for nothing but the best, being rated at the highest level of maturity is a major achievement, he added.

SunTec Business Solutions ( is a market leader, providing total and innovative billing, customer care and transaction management solutions.

The Capability Maturity Model, as defined by the Software Engineering Institute consists of 5 levels - level 1 being the "initial" level, level 2, the "repeatable" state wherein the management controls are in place while still being dependent on individuals for new products; level 3, the "defined" stage when software processes are defined and institutionalised; level 4, the "managed" stage where quantitative measurements of process and qualitative management of product systems are in position; and level 5 defines continuous process capability improvement including process change mana- gement, technology change management and defect prevention.
