TNEB Tiruchi project apace

Our Correspondent

MADURAI: The Accelerated Power Development and Reformation Project (APDRP), under implementation in the corporation limits of the Tiruchi Metro Circle of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, is nearing completion, according to Mr M. Shanmugavadivelu, Chief Engineer (Distribution) TNEB, Tiruchi.

The World Bank-aided project, aimed at ensuring reliability and quality of power supply, improvement in customer service and reduction in distribution and transmission losses are being implemented in the Tiruchi Metro and Pudukottai Circle in Tiruchi region.

While the project has already been commissioned at Pudukottai, the project at Tiruchi is likely to be completed by July. Once commissioned, the service will enable the assessors to issue computerised bills to consumers while reading the meter, he explained.

Speaking further, he said TNEB has been working on reducing the transmission loss to 10 per cent from 16 per cent. To ensure quick restoration of supply in case of disruptions, networking of high-tension lines under a ring main system is being undertaken, he added.
