Automobile Components Sundaram Brake Linings PAT up by 21 per cent Our Bureau
Chennai , May 17 SUNDARAM Brake Linings today posted a profit after tax of Rs 8.91 crore for the financial year 2003-04, up 21.55 per cent from Rs 7.33 crore posted in the previous year. The company's sales for the year was Rs 119.75 crore, higher by 18.83 per cent over the sales of Rs 100.77 crore registered in the preceding fiscal. The growth in overall sales was supported by the growth in domestic sales for 2003-04, which grew by 41.89 per cent to Rs 67.23 crore (Rs 47.38 crore). Export sales dropped to Rs 52.51 crore (Rs 53.38 crore). Earlier, the company's board had declared the second interim dividend of 40 per cent on equity shares of face value of Rs 10. The total interim dividend declared for the year was 90 per cent. The company registered a profit after tax of Rs 2.52 crore (Rs 1.53 crore) on sales of Rs 31.99 crore (Rs 24.57 crore) in the quarter ended March 2004. The employee cost for the quarter also included Rs 1.17 crore towards compensation paid under an early retirement scheme.
