Ajanta Pharma net up in Q4

AJANTA Pharma Ltd has clocked a net profit of Rs 1.97 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2004.

This stands compared to Rs 0.78 crore for the corresponding period in the previous year. Income in this period grew marginally to Rs 32.20 crore, from Rs 32.11 crore in the previous year.

Meanwhile, a healthy 35 per cent growth in exports has helped Ajanta Pharma clock a growth of 18 per cent in sales for the financial year ended March 31, 2004.

The company, largely into formulations or finished dosage forms of medicine, posted sales of Rs 120.65 crore, as compared to Rs 102.44 crore. This was on the back of a robust growth of exports over the previous year, which contributed 72 per cent of total sales, a company communiqué said on Saturday.

The company's net profit for the year was, however, down to Rs 0.36 crore, as compared to Rs 2.25 crore

The sales for the group stood at Rs 148.78 crore, up from Rs 125.14 crore in the previous year. Net profit stood at Rs 2.45 crore, as compared to Rs 0.81 crore.
