Opinion - Letters

For men only

Obviously the CMP (Common Minimum Programme) thrashed out among the ruling coalition is meant only for the "common man" and not the average woman citizen. For instance, there is nothing in it on population control and empowerment of women. Even more conspicuous is the omission of issues on Public Health (fighting HIV, TB and so on). The domain of healthcare is increasingly being occupied by the corporates making it unaffordable for the common man or woman. Successive governments, not excluding the present one, seem to have abdicated their responsibility towards revitalising the much-neglected healthcare systems in the public sector.
