Entrepreneurship Kerala institute offers support services to entrepreneurs Our Bureau
Thiruvananthapuram , May 23 THE Institute for Enterprise Culture and Entrepreneurship Development (IECED) here has unveiled a package of support services to the entrepreneurs in the State. The new initiative, according to Dr Jose Sebastian, Honorary Fellow of the institute, is designed to help the entrepreneurs focus more on the day-to-day running of their enterprises by saving the time, energy and money involved in making frequent visits to the capital for various purposes. The institute will act as their local representative and contact point. Under the package, the institute will follow up the file/application/representation of the entrepreneur pending with any office in Thiruvananthpauram and report back its present status and the reasons for the delay and the necessary action to be taken. This will include making enquiries at and gathering of information from quarters such as the Industries Department, State Electricity Board, Pollution Control Board, Water Authority, Factories and Boilers Department and Labour Department. The institute will also help the entrepreneur to follow up files pending with agencies such as the Kerala Financial Corporation, Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation, Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation, Khadi and Village Industries Commission and Women's Development Corporation. Dr. Sebastian said the entrepreneurs could also look upon the institute for procuring legal opinion or clarification on matters related to sales tax, tax exemptions, point of levy of tax and concessions to small-scale industries. In emergency cases, the institute will make payments of less than Rs. 1,000 on behalf of the entrepreneur for purchase of tender or application forms or as registration fee. Apart from these services in the capital city, the institute will help new entrepreneurs by supplying information and data for project report preparation, information on technology, machinery and raw material suppliers, credit availability and market. Registration is free.
