Mumbai , May 23

AN international conference on "Warehouse Receipts Financing" will be held in Rotterdam during June 29-30. The meeting will focus on building and using sustainable, viable and profitable finance and collateral management solutions for the 21st century, organisers Day Robinson International said.

The conference seeks to tackle a major issue— how to secure commodity inventories held in warehouses worldwide in a safe and secure environment to manage risk, avoid fraud, and provide a safe and profitable financing environment for both lenders and borrowers alike across a range of transaction structures.

Topics for discussion include legal approaches to warehouse receipts financing; legal documentation and transaction risk management; global warehouse receipts structures; electronic warehouse receipts and collateral management innovations, among others.

The conference is expected to draw together industry leaders, from the commodity trading, production and banking sectors. A half-day workshop would discuss practical use of warehouse receipts systems and warrants.

Speakers include senior officials from World Bank, UNCTAD, multinational banks, and commodity futures exchanges, the organizers said.

Day Robinson International, a UK-based consulting company, works with banking, commodities, structured finance and insurance organizations around the world.

Mr Hari Prasad, chief of strategic initiatives, National Commodities and Derivatives Exchange will present a paper on the development of collateral management tools and structures in India, and share recent experiences and lessons being learned from the growth of risk management and warehouse receipts structures in a growth marketplace.
