TN Chamber plea to repeal resale tax

Our Correspondent

Madurai , May 23

THE Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TNCC & I) has appealed to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister to repeal the levy of one per cent resale tax and to constitute a high level advisory committee with due representation to trade and industry to discuss and take immediate remedial measures on pending problems.

In a statement here, Mr S. Rethinavelu, Chamber President, while hailing the host of roll-backs announced by the Chief Minister, has, however, said that the trade and industry are chagrined not to find their demands being addressed.

Tax levy on even essential commodities has affected the common man besides causing stagnation in business activities.
