A left-hand drive

This with reference to "It's left-hand drive on Dalal Street" (Business Line, May 24). The analysis of the task of reforms ahead of the new UPA government made interesting reading.

Democracy sometimes can be a hurdle to strict economic reforms. But reforms, however hard they may be, will ensure equitable distribution of wealth.

Take for example, China, a communist, semi-capitalist economy that has zoomed past a democratic, semi-socialist India. Although there are many complaints regarding the plight of farmers in China, the situation in India is far worse. The Leftists in India, shouldtake a leaf out of China's book.
