Kottayam , May 25

PHYSICAL rubber prices moved up further on Tuesday. Sheet rubber RSS 4 closed at Rs 60 after eight years. Acute shortage of material pushed up prices to new heights while covering groups and purchase agents chased the extremely low arrivals offering better quotations.

The top gainer of the day was latex, which shot up to Rs 45.00 on consistent demand and short supply.

The futures market was also better on Tuesday. The near month June delivery was quoted at Rs 59.97 (59.60), July delivery at Rs.59.55 (59.39), August delivery at Rs 58.71(58.47) and September delivery at Rs 58.12 (58.11) per kg for RSS 4. Transactions were meagre. The TOCOM June futures for RSS 3 closed at 157.6 yen against 158.7 yen a kg on Monday.

The spot market rates per kg were as follows: RSS: Rs 4 60 (59.50); RSS 5: Rs 58.75 (58.25); ungraded: Rs 58.50 (58.00); ISNR 20: Rs 57.50 (57.50); latex 60%: Rs 45.00 (43.50)
