CoD team in Mangalore to probe `rice scam'

Mangalore , May 26

A TEAM of Corps of Detectives (CoD), headed by Dr P. Ravindranath, DIG, Economic Offences, has reached Mangalore to probe the "rice scam".

The team is being briefed by the local police officials about the raids conducted on several godowns in and around Mangalore.

Local police have filed four cases in this connection. Police sources said here on Wednesday that the CoD team would officially take over the cases on Thursday.

Apart from the DIG, the team comprises one Superintendent of Police, two Deputy Superintendents of Police and four inspectors.

It may be mentioned here that the officials of the Revenue, and Food and Civil Supplies departments had conducted raids on several private godowns and seized rice worth several crores.
