Alstom India bags Renusagar's Rs 70-cr upgrade order

Kolkata , May 26

THE Renusagar power division of Hindalco Industries Ltd has entrusted Alstom Projects India Ltd with the task of modernising the boilers of its existing 2X68-MW capacity captive power plant at Renusagar in Uttar Pradesh. The cost of the work will be about Rs 70 crore.

The boilers, originally supplied by Alstom (Combustion Engineering, USA) in 1982, will now be upgraded with advanced Alstom technology. In addition, the electrostatic precipitator will be upgraded to limit outlet dust emission.

This is a repeat order from Hindalco's Resusagar power division to Alstom, which received a similar order for boiler modernisation last year.

Meanwhile, with the addition of a aluminium smelting capacity at its Renukoot smelter, Hindalco is planning to install another cogeneration plant of 41 MW capacity. Thus, the company's total captive power plant capacity would go up to 820 MW.
