Neglected Orissa

It is unfortunate that in the newly-formed Central Cabinet — where almost all the States had their share of portfolios — Orissa is represented even by a single Minister, though there are stalwarts like Mr Girdhar Gomango and Mr Dilip Roy.

The State is already neglected in the form of revenue allocation for developmental projects.

It is hoped that the Chief Minister, Mr Naveen Patnaik, will seek funds for completing longstanding projects such as the electrification of the Khurada-Kharagpur rail lines, setting up of a repair workshop of Multiple Loco Units in Bhadrak and developing the Biju Patnaik Airport.

R Sekar
