Steady trend in rubber continues

Our Correspondent

Kottayam , May 27

THE physical rubber prices continued to be almost steady on Thursday. The only gainer of the day was RSS 4, which improved to Rs 60.25 from Rs 60.00 a kg on brisk buying pressure, while the other grades were static in an unenthusiastic market. Arrivals were narrow and the transactions were in a low key as most of the traders adopted a wait-and-watch policy.

The TOCOM June futures for RSS 3 closed at 157.7 yen against 155.8 yen a kg. At Bangkok, RSS 3 remained unchanged at Rs 64.61 a kg.

The rubber futures showed a better trend on Thursday following a higher TOCOM closing. The near month June delivery was quoted at Rs 60.35 (Rs 59.74), July delivery at Rs 59.57 (Rs 59.19), August delivery at Rs 58.41(Rs 58.16) and September delivery at Rs 57.04 (Rs 58.69) per kg for RSS 4. The volumes were moderate.

The Thursday spot market rates per kg were as follows: RSS 4 60.25 (60.00); RSS 5 58.75 (58.75); Ungraded 58.50 (58.50); ISNR 20 57.50 (57.50) and Latex 60 per cent 45.00 (45.00).
