Infinera plans expansion

BANGALORE: Infinera, a provider of telecommunications systems based on breakthrough photonic integration technology, has announced its expansion plans in India to include software development and an advanced telecom lab.

Infinera currently has a product development centre in Bangalore, which performs a strategically critical role in overall product development. The company's headcount is expected to reach 90 engineers by the year-end.

Infinera recently announced two key technology breakthroughs: the first large-scale Photonic Integrated Circuits, and the first Digital Optical Networking System, the Infinera DTN.

The Indian team contributed significantly towards the development of breakthrough technology. "We are moving to a modern 12,000 sq. ft facility at Brunton Road, which includes both software development space as well as an advanced telecom lab. In addition we are ramping up to around 90 engineers in this year," said Mr Utkarsh Rai, Managing Director, Infinera India.
