Fiat on verification of A-I union strength

Our Bureau

Mumbai , May 27

THE office of the Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner in the city has been advised against proceeding with verification of the strength of the Air-India union till further notice. The decision was taken at a joint meeting between the Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), representatives of the management and the union in the Capital on Monday.

The employees of Air-India had resorted to a flash strike on May 22, in protest against the process of verification initiated by the Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), New Delhi. The strike was called off after about two hours following assurances from the Chairman and Managing Director and CLC that the matter would be resolved through discussions. According to an official release here, the union pointed out the illegalities in the process of verification at the meeting.
