Infrastructure Infrastructure projects in AP come under scanner Our Bureau
Hyderabad , May 27 MAJOR infrastructure projects proposed by the Chandrababu Naidu Government have come under review of the new Congress (I) Government headed by Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. The Chief Minister and senior State Government officials on Wednesday discussed at length the Hyderabad International Airport at Shamshabad on the outskirts of the city, the Gangavaram port project, Formula One race course, IMG Bharata and other projects. The Government had, in its first Cabinet meet earlier in the week, said it would take a close look at several projects taken up by the previous Telugu Desam Party Government, especially in areas of tourism and infrastructure. The meeting held at the Secretariat took stock of the progress of various mega infrastructure projects being taken up in the State. The Chief Secretary, Dr Mohan Kanda, the Chairman of Infrastructure Authority, Mr P.V. Rao, the Principal Secretary, Industries, Mr K.V. Rao, and others participated in the discussions. In another development, the members of the Cabinet Sub-committee set up to look into the farmers' suicides met the Chief Minister and apprised him of the latest situation. The Chief Minister, directed officials to monitor the developments and ensure that the relief package announced by the Government reached the farmers. District Collectors must gear up the administration to support farmers in distress, he said. Meanwhile, members of the Fair Price Shop Dealers Welfare Federation of Andhra Pradesh promised to donate Rs 2 crore to the free power to the farmers scheme. The Federation President, Mr P. Babu Rao, said the commissionearned by 40,690 dealers spread all over the State on subsidised rice under the public distribution systemscheme would be donated for the cause.
