THE Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr Kamal Nath, has promised to constitute joint working groups between the Government and the industry.

In an interaction with leading members of the services sector, he said the objective was to make India a global services hub. The minister added that his priority for the services sector would be to unleash India's intellectual ability in the global market place.

Mr Kamal Nath also said in the forthcoming Exim Policy, the primary aim would be to liberalise the regulatory framework as a much as possible and "do away with what has become a prohibitory framework".

The meeting was organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Representatives from the financial services, telecom, health care, IT, ITeS, clinical R&D, construction, aviation, education and hotel and tourism attended the interaction.
