Pune May 29 THE Rs 100-crore Topsgrup, security solutions provider for the Rs 1,000-crore security industry, is setting up TISA, the International Security Academy, the first of its kind training academy. The first academy would be set up in Karjat in Mumbai and it would be followed by Zonal academies in New Delhi, Bangalore and Kolkata. Talking to presspersons, Mr Rajesh Iyengar, Vice-President, Strategic Alliances of Topsgrup, said the academy would become operational by November this year and the other three zonal academics by the end of the current calendar year. The investment going into these institutions would be close to Rs 15 crore each and would be utilised from internal accruals. The academy in Karjat would spread over 35 acres and it has identified Gurgaon as the next location. He added that along with security audits for corporates, TISA would offer training in small arm shooting, horse riding, canine training, defensive driving, mock areas and simulators besides having well-designed obstacle course, parade ground, physical training ground and new gymnasium. The full-fledged operation of TISA would also have an Olympic size swimming pool while offering basic and advanced security training in fire fighting, disaster management, ATM management, aviation security and unarmed combat. Mr Iyengar said the academy could take up to 5,000 students, spread across all its courses, per annum. The academy courses are under the process of being recognised and affiliated to Mumbai and Pune Universities. He said plans are also afoot to tie up with international organisation such as the SITO. The company, which has staff strength of 25,000 across the country, has in its rolls about 1,000 women security guards. It is planning to churn out close to 300 women guards every month.
