Wiping out poverty

This is with reference to "China shows how to wipe out poverty" (Business Line, May 28).

The author's observation that China's phenomenal success on several fronts with special emphasis on economic growth and poverty alleviation is the result of the leaders' authoritative style of functioning coupled with strong vision and direction is rightly justified. A strong vision and care for the masses is what matters more than the form of Government a country chooses to adopt.
