Visakhapatnam , May 31

HINDUSTHAN Shipyard Ltd here, struggling for survival, has got a breather by bagging a major order for construction of two bulk carriers (30,000 DWT), each worth Rs 90 crore, and there is a prospect of the shipyard getting two more such orders later this year.

The vessels would have a service speed of 14.3 knots, 28 m breadth and 9.5 m draft. The order was placed by the Gujarat-based Goodearth Maritime Ltd. The vessels would be of the latest design and specifications as stipulated by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and the Inidan Register of Shipping (IRS), according to a spokesman of the HSL. The order was signed earlier this month.
