Information Technology BOW to equip 2 lakh trucks with vehicle-tracking solution Our Bureau
Mangalore, May 31 BHARAT On Wheels (BOW) Network Pvt. Ltd, Bangalore, is planning to cover nearly two lakh trucks in the transport industry with its vehicle-tracking solution in the next six months. The company uses IVRS (interactive voice response system) to track vehicles. The vehicle-tracking solution was launched in Mangalore on Monday. Addressing presspersons here, the Managing Director of BOW Network, Mr P.S. Selvaraj, said that nearly 12,500 trucks in the country were using this facility. Of the nearly 30-lakh trucks, the company is planning to cover two lakh trucks in the next six months. In this system, transport operators registered with the company are given "BOW Card". The driver of the vehicle has to dial a common telephone number to leave information on the status of vehicle. The driver has to enter the six-digit "BOW Card" number after dialling the telephone number. After that he has to enter the three-digit message code. Information regarding the vehicle will be then uploaded to the BOW Web site. This will be made available to vehicle owners, consignors, consignees, transport companies and the agents. Mr Selvaraj said that the parties would get information on the vehicle, its status and location. Those who want to make use of this service for a single trip could get the "Trip Card" facility, he said. The system functions without any additional gadgets to be fixed to the vehicle as required in GPS systems. Mr Selvaraj said that BOW Network was also planning to introduce GPS-based vehicle-tracking system. The company is offering benefits like healthcare facilities to drivers and cleaners during the journey period.
