Rubber improves as buying resumes

THE spot rubber rates improved on Tuesday. The covering groups and purchase agents once again turned active as rains resumed after a few sunny days.

RSS 4 closed at Rs 60.25 against Rs 60 a kg on Monday. RSS 3 was steady at Rs 62.16 a kg at Bangkok. The TOCOM July futures for RSS 3 improved to 153.7 yen from 152.9 yen a kg as on the previous day.

The futures market turned better on Tuesday following positive TOCOM reports. The June delivery was quoted at Rs 60.60 (60), July delivery at Rs 59.41 (58.66), August delivery at Rs 58 (57.44) and September delivery at Rs 57.35 (56.99) per kg for RSS 4.

The spot market rates per kg on Tuesday were: RSS 4 Rs 60.25 (60); RSS 5 Rs 58.75 (58.50); ungraded Rs 58.25 (58); ISNR 20 Rs 57 (56.75); latex 60 per cent Rs 45.50 (45.50).
