Bajaj Auto sales down 7.8 pc

Mumbai , June 1

BAJAJ Auto Ltd (BAL) on Tuesday reported a 7.8 per cent decline in total sales of two and three-wheelers for May 2004 to 1,17,200 units as against the previous corresponding 1,27,156 units.

Two-wheeler sales fell by 8.8 per cent to 1,01,022 units (1,10,726 units), an official statement said. Motorcycle sales were marginally up, by 0.5 per cent, to 87,663 units (87,217 units), while that of three-wheelers dipped by 1.5 per cent to 16,178 units (16,430 units).

According to the statement, the company's exports rose by 42.8 per cent to 16,804 units (11,770 units).
