Awards & Honours Industry & Economy - Environment Kerala PCB award for Hind Lever Our Bureau
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Hindustan Lever, Ernakulam, has won the State Pollution Control Award, 2004, while Kochi Refineries won the special award for consistent effort and performance in the upkeep of environment. Apollo Tyres, Perambra, and SEPR Refractories, Kanjikode, Palakkad, shared the second place for large industries. Hindustan Newsprint Limited, Velloor, took the third position. Announcing this here, the Health Minister, Mr K. Sivadasan, said that the award for medium scale industries went to Synthite Industrial Chemicals, Puthencruz, Ernakulam. Among the small-scale industries, Bhasuri Inn, Guruvayur, had won the first place. In hospital waste management, Lakeshore Hospital, Nettoor, Ernakulam, came up tops while Maria Theresa Hospital, Kuzhikkattussery, Thrissur, won the second prize. Tharangam Hospital, West Yakkara, Palakkad, and Unity Hospital, Kunnamkulam, shared the third place. Among Government hospitals, the Thiruvananthapuram district hospital merited appreciation for neat maintenance record and proper segregation facilities for biomedical wastes.
