Allied Telesyn plans subsidiary in India

V. Rishi Kumar

Hyderabad , June 1

ALLIED Telesyn, a $520-million global networking products and solutions provider, has sewn up plans to expand India business by tapping the growing telecom and the emerging broadband market.

It is set to carve out an Indian subsidiary that would help lay special thrust on this steadily expanding market.

The Country Manager of Allied Telesyn, Mr Rajesh Sahore, who took over recently to oversee Indian operations, told Business Line: "India has emerged as one of the fast growing markets along with China in the region. We started with a liaison office late last year and are now set to establish an Indian subsidiary and more offices while building partners."

Mr Sahore said the company had expanded its scope from a supplier of media converters, unmanaged Fast Ethernet switches and hubs and fibre optic network adapters to a solutions provider in Ethernet and IP-based networking products such as multi-layer switches, routers and IP-related products.

"Having a broad range of networking products, we are in a position to offer solutions end-to-end to the networking requirements. Areas such as telecom and broadband market are growing and offers opportunity for a solutions provider like us. While small and medium sized enterprises are amongst the growing segments, new areas such a banking and financial services, ITES and Government jobs offer opportunity for growth," he explained.

While it is a fact that the market is crowded with both established players such as Cisco and other smaller solutions providers, Allied Telesyn believes that there is market for everybody. Even as the branded vendors account for about 50 per cent of the networking market, the rest is wide open.

"We provide solutions based on direct touch model where the association is long-term. As companies grow their business, they expand the product range with us. The Allied Telesyn's solutions portfolio scales to build systems that meet demand for stable connectivity with a variety of products that optimise distance, security or legacy integration priority," he explained.
