Hyderabad , June 5

THE Hyderabad-based Global Energy Consulting Engineers (GECE) has achieved a certification for its GIS (Geographical Information Systems) software `POWERGIS', from the Open GIS Consortium Inc (OGC), US.

The OGC is a standards organisation that is leading the development of standards for geospatial and location-based services. Only 38 GIS products from 16 companies have been certified by the OGC, according to a GECE press release.

GECE is the first Indian company to achieve this distinction and joins the elite group of companies such as Oracle, IBM, Integraph, Hitachi, Informix, and ESRI in having open GIS-compliant software.

GECE delivers software and consultancy services in the energy sector with clientele spread all over the Indian power sector and utilities.
