Human Resources Infosys' InStep is big draw Our Bureau
Bangalore , June 7 INFOSYS on Monday welcomed 26 interns in Bangalore as part of its Global Internship Programme, In Step. This is the largest group of Interns who have been inducted for 2004. During the year, 70 interns are expected to be placed in various offices of Infosys across the world. It has representation of students from 49 universities, which includes the USA, Japan, Canada and Germany. InStep attracted 33 students last year. According to a spokesperson of Infosys, the internees are from a mix of ethnic foreigners and from NRI community. It is a Global Internship Programme for undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students from the best universities around the globe and spans a period of eight to twenty four week summer internship programme. According to Mr Nandan Nilekani, CEO, President and Managing Director, "The response this year has been exceptional. The number of applications we received this year is almost three times more than what we got last year. This proves that InStep is a sought after internship programme in reputed universities and that India is emerging as a destination for smart professionals across the globe." "InStep interns of today become the brand ambassadors of Infosys tomorrow. While the programme has been designed to build brand awareness in global campuses, we also see this programme as a relationship building exercise with our future stakeholders," he added.
