Software Mercury to upgrade office to subsidiary Our Bureau
Bangalore , June 7 WITH India having emerged as a leading business process outsourcing centre, apart from being a major software service provider to global companies, business technology optimisation (BTO) becomes critical for facing competition and enhancing quality. Highlighting the concept and the huge business potential in India for BTO, Mr Christopher Lochhead, Chief Marketing Officer of the US-based Mercury, said this was the reason his company has decided to open a 100 per cent subsidiary, upgrading its two-year old liaison office in India. Mr Lochhead also announced the appointment of Mr T. Srinivasan as the Managing Director of the Indian outfit. Mercury, through its products WinRunner and LoadRunner, has been able to standardise the processes of BTO for its Indian customers. It now planned to expand its presence by setting up a full-fledged establishment, said Mr Srinivasan. BTO, which is globally estimated to be a $2.5 billion-dollar market, is set to grow at a compound average rate of 20 per cent. India and China were the key areas in Asia , he said. BTO, Mr Lochhead said, was expected to reduce cost of application overhead by 10 to 20 per cent, which would help in investing in new technologies while improving the productivity of IT organisations.
