Chennai , June 7

ACMEE 2004, which will showcase developments in technology and help industries market their products, will be held here between June 10 and 14.

Organised by the Ambattur Industrial Estate Manufacturers' Association (AIEMA) and the AIEMA Technology Centre, ACMEE is an acronym from the subjects it covers - automobiles and auto components, computers and peripherals, machinery and machine tools, electrical equipments and electronics and controls.

Mr K.P. Gopal, member of the ACMEE 2004 executive committee, told presspersons here on Monday that the five-day event at the Chennai Trade Centre would include 278 participants showcasing products and technologies from 30 countries.

These will cover about 7,000-sq.m. of exhibition area, and 0.75-MW of power available for `live action' of the machinery.

ACMEE 2004, the sixth edition of the international industrial exhibition, will offer an opportunity to Indian and foreign industries to interact, tie up and keep track of developments in various fields. It will focus on international sourcing of machinery and materials.

Simultaneously, a seminar is being organised on doing business with Taiwan and Germany, financing small and medium businesses - State Bank of India, advantage Mr SME (on an IT tool for small-scale enterprises by ICICI Infotech), industrial lubricants - BPCL, and reducing total cost of test - National Instruments.

Since the first ACMEE held in 1994, participation and visitors' interest have been increasing. In keeping with the trend, AIEMA expects over one-lakh business visitors and business transactions estimated about Rs 30 crore.

The first ACMEE had 171 participants, 25,000 visitors and generated business worth about Rs 4 crore, Mr Gopal said.

Visitors this year have the convenience of registering online to avoid a delay while registering at the venue. They can get in touch at www.acmeeindia.com/visitor for the exhibition, and for the seminar on www.acmeeindia.com/seminar.
