IDBI Bank unveils multi-currency travel card

Mumbai , June 8

IDBI Bank has launched a multi-currency prepaid travel card in association with Visa International, especially suited for corporate executives travelling abroad.

``WorldCurrency'' cards are available over-the-counter and accepted for cash withdrawals and purchases. A similar travel card was earlier launched by UTI Bank.

IDBI Bank's travel card would be available in six currencies - US dollar, pound sterling, euros, Australian, Singapore and Canadian dollars, said IDBI Bank said in a press release. The bank hopes to sell as many as 15,000 cards in the first 12 months.

``This card is much more convenient than carrying travellers cheque, works out cheaper than credit cards and is safer than carrying cash,'' said the release.
