Phone subscribers up 15 lakh in May

THE number of telephone subscribers in the country has gone up to 79.48 million following the addition of 1.53 million fresh subscribers in May this year, according to Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).

Fixed-line users were placed at 43.18 million, while mobile users numbered 36.3 million.Cellular operators got 1.33 million new users in May while fixed-line service providers could enrol only 0.20 million fresh customers in the month.
