IT Training Akiko Callnet plans BPO training centres in Kerala Our Bureau
Kochi , June 9 AKIKO Callnet, a leading BPO training institute in the country, has announced plans to spread wings to Kerala. Akiko Callnet, which recorded a 400 per cent growth by training more than 8,000 candidates last year, has sent a two-member delegation to the State to select franchisees for setting up similar training centres here. "The country needs more trained manpower," Mr Praney Sharma, Director of Operations and leader of the two-member delegation, said, while pointing out that Akiko Callnet with its track record and expansion plans is poised to meet this growing challenge. Mr Sharma said, "Considering that Kerala enjoys the highest literacy rate in the country, we have decided to open Akiko Callnet training institutes all over the State, particularly in Kochi, Kottayam, Thrissur, Kannur and Kollam." Akiko Callnet has emerged as a brand leader in the field within a short period, he said. Its exclusive training tie-up with a US training company, the Montana-based Train Now has led to tie-ups for placement with international call centres such as Convergys, Saffron, V Customer, Standard Chartered, Ricco, Icon Data Management, and domestic call centres such as Spanco, Finedge, Monarch and Mobilink, a release issued here has said. The New Delhi-based company already has a number of training institutes in cities such as New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai. As the demand for call centre personnel is far more than the current supply, Akiko Callnet foresees a bright future for its trainees. "Nasscom has predicted that the call centre industry along with other IT enabled services will have a turnover of Rs 81,000 crore, while creating two million jobs by 2008," Mr Sharma said. India also continues to be an attractive destination for the BPO industry as the cost per transaction is about the lowest, 29 cents per transaction compared to $3.75 in the US, $2.90 in the UK, $2.03 in Hong Kong, $1.15 in Singapore, 52 cents in China and 37 cents in Thailand and the Philippines, the release added.
