Lupin, Ind-Swift to co-market anti-diarrhoeal drug

Our Bureau

Mumbai , June 9

FOR A wider-coverage of Ind-Swift's anti-diarrhoeal drug, the Chandigarh-based company has tied-up with Mumbai-based pharma company Lupin Ltd to co-market the drug under different brand names.

Lupin and Ind-Swift have launched the anti-diarrhoeal drug Nitazoxanide under the brand names Nizonide and Netazox respectively, Lupin said in a company communiqué.

Ind-Swift sources told Business Line that it manufactured the drug and sourced it out to Lupin.

"The co-marketing deal would increase the coverage of the drug and the revenues would come from the sales of drug," the source said, ruling out royalty payments.

Recently, Ind-Swift obtained the approval from the Drug Controller General India (DCGI) for the manufacture and launch of this drug in India. The drug has been launched in 500 mg tablets, 200 mg dispersible tablets and 100 mg/5 ml suspension forms.

According to industry estimates, the current market size of anti-diarrhoeal is around Rs 150 crore.
