Long-term policy necessary

This is with reference to "And now, khadi makes its appearance on Indian Railways" (Business Line, June 9).

The kind of reforms the new Railway Minister is introducing will have far-reaching implications on Railway finances and passenger satisfaction.

These should be implemented on the basis of well thought out long- term policy. How hygienic are the earthen cups being introduced? Is the hygienic method of serving meals in closed, biodegradable plastic containers to be abandoned?
