THE West Bengal Government is currently the third largest floriculture producer in the country and it hopes to become the largest producer within the next few years.

This was stated by Mr S.S. Ahuja, Principal Secretary, Department of Food Processing. He was addressing participants, who have enrolled for the six-week training programme on export-oriented floriculture business.

The training programme is organised by Enterprise Development Institute, which is promoted by the Bengal National Chamber of Commerce & Industry. This is the third such programme and 55 students have enrolled for it.

According to Mr Ahuja, flowers from West Bengal are already being exported to the Netherlands, Singapore and the UK.
