FAPCCI awards announced

Hyderabad , June 11

THE Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, will present the annual Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FAPCCI) awards to 18 winners on Saturday for making significant contributions in different fields during the year 2002-03.

Natco Pharma Ltd has won the `Best Technology Development in R&D Award,' while Singareni Collieries Company Ltd and Shanta Biotechnics Pvt. Ltd bagged `Best All Round Performance and Best New Product Innovation' awards, respectively.

Announcing the names of winners at a press conference here on Friday, Mr S.S.R. Koteswara Rao, President of FAPCCI, and Mr S. Thirumalai, Chairman of the awards committee, said the chambers had received 105 entries for the awards in 19 different categories.

Other winners include Sivashakthi Bio Planttec Ltd (Industrial Productivity), Sanghi Spinners India Ltd (Workers' Welfare Activity), EPE Process Filters and Accumulators (Technology Development in R&D - small-scale sector), Kesoram Cement (Rural Development Activity), Macro Media Digital Imaging (Marketing Performance) and Lanco Kondapalli Power (Environmental Improvement Activity).

Interestingly, two global players Tata Consultancy Services and GE Capital also got the awards (Best IT Company award) and (Best Export Performance Award). Mr Koteswara Rao said they were selected for their performance out of Andhra Pradesh.

Dr M. Ratna Sudha, Managing Director of Unique Biotech Ltd, was adjudged the Best Woman Entrepreneur Award, while Ms Rekha Patri of Hyderabad won the Best Self-Sustaining Effort by a Physically Challenged Person award.
