Warning to Kerala fishermen

KOCHI: The State Fisheries Minister, Prof K.V. Thomas, has warned fishermen against venturing out to sea ignoring warnings issued by the Meteorological Department.

In a statement issued here, the Minister said there has been an increase in the number of accidents at sea due to fisher-folk ignoring warnings. Arrangements have been made for aiding fishing vessels in trouble. Coast Guard vessels, Dornier aircraft and the vessels of Fisheries Department have been put on alert. The Marine Enforcement Wing has also opened a control room, he said.
