Thiruvananthapuram , June 14

THE Centre for Development of Imaging Technology (C-DIT) here is planning new projects in connection with its 15th anniversary on June 18.

One of the projects is to start a college of convergence and entertainment technology. This will be the first multimedia super-speciality institute for information technology in the State, according to Mr. M.M. Hassan, Information Minister.

C-DIT, a State Government venture, is also planning to offer courses to the public in digital video editing and developing Web sites. The anniversary celebrations will see the release of `Chitrakudukka" (on ethnic Kerala with 2,500 images and sounds), `Padanakauthukam' e-books, `Nammude Malayalam' CD, `Bharana Malayalam' CD, team portfolio brochure, newsletter, diploma film portfolio and `Sasthrakauthukam' video serial.

The Minister said C-DIT had made significant contributions in developing the software for the `Akshaya' programme, IT@School and FRIENDS, besides making hologram secured certificates for universities and the State Beverages Corporation. A new software module for FRIENDS centres will be ready soon.

He noted that C-DIT has been a profit-making organisation for the last three years and it had stopped receiving Government assistance.
