Events World Blood Donors Day Our Bureau
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Surgicals major Terumo Penpol, in association with the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) and the All-Kerala Blood Donors Society (KEBS), hosted a function here on Monday to thank the blood donor community for their invaluable contribution to the society as also to encourage a new generation of voluntary non-remunerated donors. The Additional Director-General of Police, Mr Jacob Punnoose, was the chief guest. Two donors, with a history more than 50 times of donation, were feted on the occasion. They were Dr Mohandas, the Project Coordinator for Adult Education, Kerala University, and Mr Suresh, a 36-year-old software engineer. Also among the assembled were 54 donors who had performed the act more than 25 times, while 26 others had done it on more than 10 occasions. These donors were largely drawn from Terumo Penpol, the Office of the Accountant-General, Kerala, the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), the Regional Research Laboratory - Thiruvananthapuram (RRL - T), the College of Ayurveda and the University College.
