PUNE: "Making technology work is important but making technology work for the poor is the challenge'' is how Dr R.A. Mashelkar, Director-General, CSIR, likes to put it, while handing over the CSI-Nihilent eGovernance Award 2003-04 on Monday.

Maharashtra was adjudged the best e-Governed State (Advanced) and Haryana the best e-Governed State (Young).

The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (was declared the best technical company in e-Governanc. The best e-Governance Project award went to the CARD project in Haryana while the Voice project Vijayawada and the Ekal Sewa Kendra (Haryana) were the first and second runner-ups respectively.
