`BSNL popular in rural areas'

MANGALORE: The mobile services of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) are popular in rural areas, according to the Inspector General of Police, Western Range, Mr H.N. Satyanarayana.

Participating in a function to present "Bharat Sanchar Sarathy" and "Sanchar Seva Padak" to the employees of BSNL in Mangalore on Tuesday, he said that the popularity of BSNL mobile services in rural areas shows the efficiency of the department.

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Karnataka Bank Ltd, Mr Anantakrishna, who was present on the occasion, said that public sector undertakings such as BSNL are doing well because of their service to the customers. The bank has used the leased lines of BSNL while implementing core banking solution in its branches, he said.

The Chief General Manager of Karnataka Telecom Circle, Mr K.J. Chacko, presided over the function.
