Potters elated

Our Correspondent

Madurai , June 15

THE potters of Manamadurai, near here, are an enthused lot because of the order by the Railway Minister, Mr Laloo Prasad Yadav to use earthen cups for serving tea to passengers.

According to Mr L. Vadivelu, Special Officer of the Manamadurai Pottery Workers Cooperative Cottage Industrial Society, they have been supplying pottery items to Coimbatore, Tiruchi, Erode, Salem and Karaikal. If they could get bulk orders from Railways, it would be a turn around for them.

A team of officials from the Southern Railways, it is learnt, has recently visited Manamadurai and enquired about the prices of cups and the ability to supply on a large scale.

The society can supply quality cups as members are well trained , Mr Vadivelu added.
