Hotel management courses

Our Bureau

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology here, governed by the Ministry of Tourism of the Union Government, proposes to start two short-term courses — a Post-Graduate Diploma Course in Accommodation Operation and Management and a Craft Course in Food Production — in July.

The duration of the courses would be year-and-a-half, six months of which would be used for practical training in hotels. The number of seats would be 30 with respect to each.

While the qualification is graduation in any subject from a recognised university for the first named course, it is a pass in SSLC or an equivalent examination for the latter. The age limit is 28 for the former and 22 for the latter as on July 1, 2004, with relaxation of three years for candidates belonging to the Scheduled communities.

Applications in English, written on white paper along with a Demand Draft for Rs 200 drawn in the name of the Principal, IHMCT, Kovalam, Thiruvananthapuram - 695527, should reach him on or before June 25.
