THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: State Bank of India has opened a fully computerised branch at Karunagappally in Kollam district.

While inaugurating the branch, the 237th in the State, Mr C. Narasimhan, Chief General Manger, Kerala Circle, said that State Bank would endeavour to make banking services affordable and accessible to a vast majority of the population. With this in view, the bank has embarked on a strategy of reaching out to more areas and leveraging technological products such as ATM and Internet banking.

The bank had already opened 130 networked ATMs in the State, and another 125 would be added during the course of this financial year.

Mr Narasimhan also said that the bank had introduced a single window system in all branches, including the new Karunagappally branch, with a view to providing varied banking services from a single point.
