The Hindu Business Line : CTC varieties ease at Kochi tea sale

Of the quantity of 10,21,000 kg on offer in the dust category, CTC market was irregular and easier except good liquoring teas, which were steady. Orthodox dusts also remained steady.

The best CTC varieties commanded prices between Rs 52 and Rs 68, medium CTC realised Rs 45-48 and poorer type were quoted at Rs 36-40. Highgrown BOPD fetched prices between Rs 60 and Rs 85, while medium BOPD realised Rs 37-42. Secondaries were quoted at Rs 33-35.

The leaf sale also witnessed a good general demand and the quantity on offer was 4,46,000 kg. Orthodox medium brokens and fannings barely steady. Highgrown brokens tended to ease. Fanning steady, while whole leaf grades tending easier. CTCs remained steady. Export buyers including CIS buyers operated with fair strength compared to last week.

The best Nilgiri varieties commanded prices between Rs 54 and Rs 66, medium orthodox realised Rs 42-57 and plain orthodox were quoted Rs 40-45. The best CTC leaf fetched prices between Rs 50 and Rs 60, while medium CTC leaf realised Rs38-45.

In the dust category, Kodanaad BOPD-CL realised the best prices of Rs 85 followed by Pasuparai RD by Rs 77. In the leaf varieties, Havukal BOPF-CL fetched the best prices of Rs 88 followed by Chamraj OP by Rs 87.
