Mumbai , June 21

TALKS are on between Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and Jet Airways to introduce special holiday packages linking the Buddhist circuits of Nepal, India and Sri Lanka.

Mr Aditya Baral, NTB's Manager (Marketing and Promotion), told presspersons here on Monday that as part of the joint initiative by NTB and Jet Airways to promote Nepal as a tourist destination, the domestic airline was in the process of bringing out special packages for destinations in Nepal beyond Kathmandu valley.

"There are so many places beyond Kathmandu in Nepal that have excellent tourism opportunities. Jet Airways will be looking at adding value-added services to its packages, which may include mountain flights."

According to Mr Baral, the flow of Indian tourists to Nepal has been on the rise, with 40,000 tourists from the country visiting between January and May this year, marking a 28 per cent increase when compared to the inflow during the corresponding period of last year.

"The total number of tourist inflow into Nepal during this period has been 91,000," he said.

As part of the joint marketing efforts, NTB and Jet Airways are planning a series of promotional activities, targeting consumers and travel trade.
